About Open Source
Open Source collects products whose code is public and open to inspection, reuse or contribution. Each listing here sits in one main category, and this is where projects built in the open sit alongside their commercial siblings. Read the page like a dashboard: scan the newest launches first, then re-sort by community votes to see which projects people actually back.
Use the subcategories to narrow by how a project is used. Apps are finished products, libraries are building blocks for developers, self-hosted tools run on your own infrastructure, and open source AI covers models and the tooling around them. The filters on this page cut across all four, so you can compare projects side by side. Votes can never be bought, which keeps the leaderboard readable as a signal of real interest rather than spend.

Open Source: questions answered
- What belongs in the Open Source category?
- Products and businesses whose code is publicly available and built around that openness. Pick this as your main category if the open code is central to what you offer. If openness is incidental, a category describing the product's job will usually fit better.
- How do I choose between the four subcategories?
- Ask who runs it and how. A finished product for end users is an app, a package other developers import is a library, something you deploy on your own servers is self-hosted, and models or ML tooling belong under open source AI.
- How do I get my open-source project listed here?
- Go to /submit and paste your website address. An AI drafts the profile from that site, and you check and edit every field before anything goes live. Choose Open Source or one of its subcategories as your main category, which is included free.
- Can a project appear in more than one category?
- Every listing has one main category, included free. A paid upgrade adds up to 3 more categories for $5, which suits a project that is both a self-hosted tool and an AI project, for example.
- How are listings ordered, and what should I compare?
- Listings appear newest first by default, and you can sort by community votes instead. When comparing, look at how clearly the project explains its set-up, how it is licensed, and whether its documentation and community activity suggest it is maintained.
